White House Correspondents' Dinner 2012 Guest List, Bring Your Purell

The LA Times has a nice roundup of the bold-faced names who will be in attendance and the media organizations that will be pimping hosting them:
My takeaway? Like attracts like...

The annual White House Correspondents' Dinner is taking place in Washington this weekend, and the Hollywood quotient for the event normally dominated by D.C.-based journalists is higher than ever this year. Every media outlet on the guest list has used its pull to invite famous faces from the world of TV and movies.
...reality TV queens Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, will be guests of Fox News' Greta Van Susteren.
Everyone's really losing their shit over Van Susteren's other big get, the infamous La Lohan. And by everyone I mean Meghan McCain.

For those of you who don't know, The White House Correspondents' Dinner aka Nerd Prom  (happening Saturday) is essentially an event in which dorky DC journalists and politicos delude themselves into feeling like they're as cool and glamorous as Hollywood stars. For celebrities, it's an opportunity to look smart and politically connected. I love the needy give and take of it all.
Also, the President gets to be funny, while the host may or may not be. Godspeed, Jimmy Kimmel.

You can watch all the festivities live on CSPAN and of course check Tellyphile regularly for tidbits.
