President Obama's 2012 White House Correspondents' Dinner Speech
Here is the President's WHCD speech. Would you call it a speech? Routine might be a better word for it but that sounds so unpresidential. At any rate, here is the President talking with jokes.
He did well. Kind of the opposite of Kimmel because his pre-recorded opening bit, poking fun at the recent incident that caught him making nice with the Russian president over an open mic, was kind of corny and the weakest part of the whole thing. This was mostly due to BO's canned delivery. He clearly benefits from the energy of a crowd.
What I love most about watching BO being funny is that it gives us a glimpse of who he is as a person, how he's a little bit of a ham (the wink at the audience when he says he was born in Hawaii--Newt really loved that one) and likes to tease (he serenades Michelle with Young Jeezy) and can be quite droll (that now infamous pitbull joke).
The Washington Post has a nice summary of the evening here.
